A burst geyser is bad news! The quicker you call your plumber and repair or replace it the better. Follow these 5 steps to mitigate damage and get it sorted soonest!
- Step 1: Turn off your geyser switch on the distribution board (it should be labelled ‘geyser’ or ‘HWC (hot water cylinder)).
- Step 2: Shut off your water. If your geyser is in a cupboard, you must first shut off the valve (it looks like a brass garden tap).
- Step 3: Open a hot tap to release the pressure in the piping. This will result in less damage.
- Step 4: Contact Plumbing it Fine for advice on whether your geyser needs to be replaced or if the geyser is leaking due to another issue.
- Step 5: If the geyser needs to be replaced, we will let you know who to contact regarding your warranty or insurance.
